Shino Series: Set of 5 Saucer Bowls

One of Chee Yong's reduction-fired Shino glaze series. Some colors that are attainable in reduction are not attainable in oxidation and visa versa. In this case, the Artist went for reduction, how the ancients fired, by burning fuel. The attraction being that all the classic ancient glaze colors, as subtle variations that occur over textured undulating surfaces, when fire interacts with glaze and clay. Like when humans interact in the same way.

This is the perfect classic Shino set, if you are looking to get that Shino look!

Note: Shino glaze is a common term for a family of pottery glazes. Colours range from milky white to orange, sometimes with charcoal grey spotting, known as "carbon trap" which is the trapping of carbon in the glaze during the firing process. Some call it, the "Glaze of a Thousand Faces".
