History of Bedok: Wild Clay Bowl

Wild clay is truly wild. What surprises await when it was fired. This piece has a “jewel” or nugget of silica that revealed itself after firing, like a pearl hidden in an oyster, until it is discovered. Its textured surface suggests the dry, craggy Singaporean soil during a hot day, while the inside conveys a cool pearly reflection of the moon by night.

This clay was gathered from a construction site in Bedok, soil from our island, Singapore, fired here. Truly born and bred in SG! And multi-functional too!
