Moon Jars are curvaceous, rotund-shaped jars resembling a full moon. They were originally made in plain white porcelain during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), customarily to hold flowers or wine. They were also used as ritual, votive vessels. The moon jar is either made by joining two hemispherical halves, or by throwing a cylindrical shape and opening the middle wide to form the spherical shape.
Its stately and unassuming appearance would make this a perfect contrast for a vibrant ikebana arrangement.
